Seems pretty foolproof. I had my unit configured in less than two minutes. This is a clever piece of equipment and it's going to save lives. The ability to set a specific MMSI code for your vessel is brilliant.
Setting the correct operating mode worked like a charm. I was happy to find the Nautilus Lifeline when McMurdo wanted to charge me 250 EUR for replacing the batteries in my Smartfind S10.
Well, I haven't surfaced yet with no boat in sight, but who knows! Just kidding. In the even this ever happens, I do feel confident that I will be found. I tried this out on my boats radio and it sent an alarm. Not knowing its a diver is a reason I would drop a star as a boat operator wouldn't associate the alert with a missing diver. The older unit had a marine radio where you could contact a boat, but all in all, compared to other devices on the market such as a PLB which I use when hiking, there are not a lot of other options. So the price is good. I haven't dove any depths deeper than 60 feet, but it didn't leak. Buy a leash for it and store it in a pocket. Haven't bought the neoprene cover as that just adds more buoyancy (well not that much). Easy to program. and if no MSI is entered, it will send a distress signal to any boat within range. Thanks.. Very easy to use. You need to input the MMSI# of the boat you are diving with and it's easy to lookup on the internet. Search for MMSI Lookup. I had two units set up in 10 minutes.
